Description

Come and debate and share priorities for collective action to adapt the vine and wine sector to climate change in the Mediterranean !

These workshops aim to stimulate debate around how to develop the winegrowing sector’s climate change adaptation strategy in Mediterranean regions.

INRAE and its partners working on the LACCAVE project appeal to all stakeholders in the sector to submit their proposals, share experience and suggest priorities for a Mediterranean vine! This original format is proposed as part of the MEDCLIV project which aims to try out participative initiatives, and as an extension to the talk on adapting viticulture to climate change.

Background and goal: The LACCAVE project, which federated research into challenges relating to climate change, vine and wine, held its final seminar in November 2021. The winegrowing sector’s strategy to address climate change was published in the summer of 2021 and draws on the participative and forward-looking studies of LACCAVE. To become operational, this strategy must be rolled out in the main winegrowing regions, adapted to local specificities and the priorities of stakeholders. The aim of this series of workshops is to begin to outline the adaptation of the national strategy into a Mediterranean strategy to help the vine and wine sector adapt to climate change, by going over and beyond the current initiatives.

In these three 45-minute workshops, participants will be asked to develop and discuss measures to help the vine and wine sector to adapt to climate change. Following a short presentation of the sector’s national climate change adaptation strategy (and the approach), participants will work in small groups to develop each of the categories of measures, then present them to the group before a debate in which views will be invited on the pertinence, efficiency and justice of these measures and their level of priority.

In parallel to these workshops, visitors to the INRAE/ IFV stand will be able to give their opinion on the measures that they consider to be priorities from among those put forward during the workshops.

This work may be furthered in other settings and shall be shared with anyone wishes to take up the subject.
