This self-propelled high-clearance vehicle is characterized by a half-chassis to the front and half-chassis to the rear, arranged one behind the other while being assembled with the aid of a longitudinal pivot link. The half-chassis incorporate a central drive train and a lateral drive train respectively. The stabilizing drive trains to the left and right are arranged on either side of the longitudinal axle of the vehicle.
This "AXISS" tractor (patented by G R V) fulfils criteria of safety, ease of access and driving comfort, while being inexpensive to maintain. Permanently in contact with the ground, its four wheels give the vehicle excellent stability and driving performance. Its low-set driving position eases access for the driver and does away with the tilting effects associated with higher positions. The driver's position is ideal when it comes to controlling work on the ground. The versatility of this type of chassis also enables the vehicle to access narrow vineyards (1m) just as well as wide (2m) and high (2.3m) ones. The push-in mostly pull-out tool holders are perfectly suitable for adapting to modern soil maintenance tools. All independent, they are not affected by unevenness thanks to their being mounted on each semi-portal.
