The system is made up of two distinct and complementary modules.

The "Cleantech" module handles the sorting and separation of the grains at high speed, while respecting the grapes thanks to two basic principles:

1. a large area allowing free grapes to pass without mechanical action;
2. a large contact surface between a rotor and a sorting chain, with different peripheral speeds.

The difference in speed between these two elements is what adjusts the intensity of the system.

The "Vario" module ensures the extremely sensitive sorting of the harvest upon its leaving the Cleantech module, allowing in particular for the extraction of leafstalks and small-sized stem ends, while respecting the grapes.

The system is based on the principle of sorting rollers broadly familiar, for example, from the mechanical harvesting of olives, but is original and innovative in that it is a patented system which allows for continuous adjustment of the distance between two successive rollers. Each roller is indexed in a multiple gear system with a different step. Rotation of the gear by one turn leads to a displacement of x mm in the first roller, 2x mm in the second roller, and so on.

The distance between the rollers can therefore be adapted easily and precisely to the size of the grapes. Work rate, sorting quality and respect for the harvest are thus optimized.
